WHAT AM I IN FOR?
The first half of this week will be spent hugging the coast so we'll be able combat the heat by having several dips a day on empty beaches with crystal clear water. We'll sweat our way past tortoises and quiet villages, with dramatic mountainous islands always to our right. We'll also be lucky enough to have a fancy mid-week stay as we'll be hosted by the amazingly generous Antonio in his guesthouse. And we would be mad not to choose to buy dinner there as his sister is an incredible Greek chef! Last year we were plied with moussaka, feta and bottles of wine as big as a small child.
The second half of the week we will up the challenge and head for the mountains. Expect rugged, dry and dramatic landscapes. Expect to be drink more water than you thought was possible and to push yourself really hard.
Arriving in Athens will be the most glorious of all our city stops as we have the epic-ness of arriving at our final destination. We'll celebrate like there's no tomorrow and take a few hundred photos in front of the Parthenon. We'll also be lucky enough to explore the project we've been fundraising for and see what this is ALL about.
24th June - arrive into Corfu and catch a short ferry to Igoumenitsa. We'll meet you in and head to our apartment for the night to chat about the week ahead and eat lots of food.
25th June - cycle really far
26th June - cycle really far, stay at Antonio's Guesthouse. Eat amazing food if we choose to, shower, refresh, and feel ready for the rest of it...
27th June - cycle really far
28th June - cycle really far up and down
29th June - cycle really far up and down
30th June - cycle really far up and down, and INTO ATHENS. Have a meal and party with everyone at Khora. And then sleep like a baby.
1st July - we'll drop you back at the airport for you to scoot home. Or you could stay a little longer and volunteer with Khora for a bit if you'd like to, depending on whether they need extra people at the time.
