WHAT AM I IN FOR?
This will be a big, beautiful week of coastal and mountainous cycling across 4 countries. We'll start in Croatia, riding the full coastline of Montenegro and Albania, finishing in the north of Greece.
None of us organising this trip have ever been to Croatia, Montenegro or Albania, let alone cycle through them, finding places to wild camp. (If you are reading this and you speak Albanian, Montenegrin or Croatian, please, please come). It's safe to say that the one predictable thing about this week will be unpredictability.
Besides adventure, beautiful scenery and being able to swim at the drop of a helmet, the other great thing this week has to offer is optional 'extra hard' routes, so this week will work well for pals wanting to adventure together who have slightly different levels of fitness (fit and very fit). There are two days when the keen beans of the group can put themselves through more pain. This shouldn't lull anyone into a false sense of security, extra climbs or not, this week will be hard, we will wake up each morning praying to the wind god for a tailwind and good weather. Everyone should expect long days in the saddle and big challenges.
THE PLAN SO FAR
17th June - Arrive in Dubrovnik, get picked up by us, go to our apartment, make a big meal and talk about the week ahead
18th June - cycle really far
19th June - cycle really far, optional mountain pass in Montenegro to see the Skadarsko Jezero (big lake)
20th June - cycle really far, optional extra for those whose legs still work- through the Shtamë pass, a BIG Albanian mountain
21st June - cycle really far. And maybe today, or when our tired brains allow us, we'll skype Khora, the organisation we're fundraising for, to hear more about their project and for you to have an opportunity to questions.
22nd June - cycle really far
23rd June - cycle really far, arrive in Igoumenista at our apartment. Feast like kings and stare at our powerful legs in amazement.
24th June - you'll catch a short ferry across to Corfu and fly home.
