WHAT AM I IN FOR?
This is the all Italian leg, a country legendary for its cycling culture. Expect stunning mountain views, pizza, gelatos, pizza, coffee, tough climbs and 8-10 hours cycling a day, and pizza.
With an average of 120km per day, this week will not be a walk in the piazza. It will require training, determination and working as a group to support each other. It is a great week for people who want the challenge of some BIG climbs, but don't just want constant mountains. Some days will be spent cycling the foothills of the Italian Alps (sometimes over 1000m in a single climb), and others will be spent whizzing through flat plains and lakeside roads, stopping to inflict our sweaty bodies on the unsuspecting, beautiful lakes.
We'll start and finish the week in our own classy apartments in Milan and Trieste, while mid-week be staying with welcoming locals some nights, and wild camping others. As we often don't know where we'll be sleeping until the day itself, we can guarantee unpredictability and adventure, and often tons of beauty, and definitely good stories to take home.
THE PLAN SO FAR
3rd June - Arrive in Milan, we'll scoop you up and go to our apartment, feasting on all the pasta we can find for an evening of delicious carb loading.
4th June - cycle really far along relatively flat roads
5th June - cycle really far
6th June - cycle really far with some big climbs
7th June - cycle really far with some huge climbs
8th June - cycle really far along flat-ish roads, maybe today, or whenever our tired brains allow us, we'll skype Khora, the organisation we're fundraising for, to hear more about their project and to give you an opportunity to ask questions.
9th June - cycle really far along flat-ish roads. Feast like kings in Trieste with tired legs and happy minds.
10th June - we'll drop you at the airport/train station
