WHAT AM I IN FOR?
With a 100km a day average and some hefty uphills towards the end of the week, there will be plenty of cycling to keep us very busy. This is a week that is accessible to people who might not describe themselves as an avid cyclist but who are going to train and want a serious challenge.
Expect to ride for around 7-8 hours a day, to empty boulangeries in seconds, to cycle through bright yellow fields of rapeseed, to wash our sweaty bodies in streams, wild camp in a forest, camp at communities/farms, to cycle through Morvan National Park and scare cars away with our garlic-infused sweat. Last year, we found some great hosts whilst en route, including a donkey sanctuary, a Muslim & permaculture centre, and the barn of a techno addict in the middle of rural France. This year, the only thing we know is that it will be just as unpredictable and just as great.
At some point, when our tired brains allow us to, we'll skype Khora, the organisation we're fundraising for, to hear more about their project and for you to have an opportunity to questions.
And finally on Saturday we'll roll into Lyon for an evening of exhausted, elated celebrating!
