TWO WAYS TO PLAY
WHY SPELL IT OUT?
The British government is proposing an overhaul of the asylum system that will put the country in direct opposition to the 1951 Geneva Convention by shutting down more of the few remaining legal routes to the UK.
According to The Joint Council for the Welfare of Immigrants, 'LGBTQ+ people and those fleeing political or religious persecution will be left with no options to travel to the UK'. Incredibly, the new laws will also criminalise the courageous, life-saving work of British lifeguards. This. Is. Not. Fair. Let's make some noise, raise as much money as we can and show the world that refugees are always welcome here. |
two ways to play? huh?!
Confusing, isn't it!
Basically we have two offerings this summer:
World Record Relay (5 - 18 September)
This is a supported tour where we organise (almost) everything - the route, the dates, the distances, the camping, the cooking, the support van. Choose to ride one letter of 'Welcome', from 38-164km, over 1 or 2 days. You'll join a bunch of other lovely humans and together we'll create an unforgettable fundraising adventure experience. And collectively break a world record.

DIY Choose Your Letter (Any time until 26 September)
All we give you is the route. You get to choose when you ride, who you ride with, how much you ride, how fast you ride and where you stay. Perfect for control freaks! 😂 Each letter is between 101-260km, but you are completely free to build a route that satisfies your body and soul - and your donors

WHAT ABOUT COVID?!
As you can imagine, this is a wild year to be organising an adventure like this!
DIY Choose Your Letter
Because you are in control of your own adventure, we're leaving it up to you to decide how much or how little Covid impacts your ride. Stay safe and follow the guidelines laid out by the government and local health authorities.
World Record Relay
According to the data, outdoor activities are relatively safe compared to, say, choir practice in a broom cupboard. But we will still be taking all precautions against Covid, in line with NHS advice. Extra cleaning of shared equipment, for example. Normally we would also provide things like tents - but this year we are asking you to bring your own.
We don't expect any drastic changes to the World Record Relay plan - the government would have to roll back the rules to an almost full lockdown before cycling and camping are forbidden - but we have made our own risk assessment and have contingencies in place for several depressing scenarios. Fingers crossed we don't have to use any of them!
BOTTOM LINE: If the World Record Relay has to be cancelled, you will get a full refund (if you want one)
